Kickboxing at Be Water — Pure striking, relentless cardio
Kickboxing is the most direct striking martial art there is. It combines boxing's punches with powerful leg kicks in an accessible, dynamic, high-tempo format. No clinch or elbows from Muay Thai, no MMA complexity: all you need is to know how to move your feet, throw good shots and keep up the pace.
At Be Water, Kickboxing classes are designed for those who want the best of both worlds — the technical quality of a combat gym and the cardio energy of a group class. The result is an hour that flies by, where you learn to hit with real technique and leave with your cardio wrecked.
What Kickboxing is and how it works
Kickboxing is a standing striking martial art that uses only punches and kicks. It's the most beginner-friendly striking art and one of the best calorie-burning, cardiovascular-intensity workouts in all combat sports.
Technical weapons of Kickboxing
- Punches — jab, cross, hook and uppercut, with boxing's technical base
- Low kicks — leg kicks, the most effective tool for wearing down an opponent
- Middle kicks — body kicks, powerful and fast, the visual signature of Kickboxing
- High kicks — head kicks, more technical and spectacular, developed progressively
What a Kickboxing class is like at Be Water
Classes are 60 minutes with a clear structure: always starts with technique, always ends with bags or combination rounds.
Dynamic warm-up
Skipping, shadowboxing and joint activation. In the first 10 minutes you're already sweating — this is where conditioning begins.
Technique work
Review of fundamentals (guard, footwork, stance) and introduction of the day's technique. Shadow in the mirror to internalise the movement before applying it.
Combinations
Punch + kick sequences practised in pairs with focus pads or on bags. This is where technique gains real power and timing.
Bag rounds
Timed bag rounds with escalating combinations. High intensity, direct application of what was learned. You always leave with your mind full and your body spent.
Final conditioning
Short, explosive specific conditioning block: core, cardio and finisher. To close the class with everything left to give.
What you'll gain with Kickboxing
Physically, Kickboxing is one of the modalities with the best results in the least time. An intense class can burn 600–800 kcal, and the combination of explosive cardio with muscular power work accelerates definition and fat loss. If the goal is getting seriously fit, few modalities compete.
Technically, you develop a real striking base — punch/kick coordination, timing, distance management and guard. It's applicable knowledge, not choreography. If you later move to Muay Thai, Boxing or MMA, you'll have 80% of the foundation already built.
Mentally, Kickboxing is one of the best modalities for managing stress. The high tempo, technical focus and physical discharge combine to clear the head in a way few workouts can. Many students describe the class as "the best hour of the week".

Classes are for all levels. If you've never done striking before, you start here — Kickboxing is probably the combat modality with the most beginner-friendly learning curve.
If you already have experience in Boxing, Muay Thai or MMA, Kickboxing is an excellent complement: it focuses on rhythm, long combinations and specific cardio, components that are often undertrained in more technical modalities.
It's especially recommended for those who want to lose weight and get definition effectively, those who want to learn to hit with real technique without entering the complexity of Muay Thai, those looking for a cardio class with purpose and progression, and for those who already train strength and want to add a power and coordination component.

What's the difference between Kickboxing and Muay Thai?
The main difference is the technical arsenal. Kickboxing uses only punches and kicks; Muay Thai adds elbows, knees and clinch. In practice, Kickboxing is faster to learn, more cardio-intensive and more dynamic; Muay Thai is technically more complex and more versatile in real combat contexts. If you're a beginner, Kickboxing is the natural entry point.
Do I need prior experience?
None. Kickboxing is one of the modalities with the most beginner-friendly learning curve. In the first class you learn the base stance, how to move and how to throw a jab — and you leave with a real sense of what hitting with technique feels like.
What equipment do I need?
For the first class, nothing — we lend gloves. For regular training: boxing gloves (12 oz for most people), hand wraps, shin guards and a mouth guard. The Be Water team will help you choose the right equipment for your level.
Is there sparring in classes?
Not as a regular component. Classes focus on technique, focus pads and bags — where real Kickboxing is built. If there's interest in controlled sparring, it's introduced gradually and always with full equipment and direct supervision.
Can I do Kickboxing alongside BJJ or Muay Thai?
Absolutely — and it's a great combination. Many students use Kickboxing as the cardio-technical class of the week, complementing one of those more complex systems. The body appreciates the variety and technical progress crosses over naturally.
